Community information regarding Limestone County tax issue

This page was created to help inform citizens on the Limestone County tax case. At issue are countywide taxes collected in Madison City, Limestone County that were not being distributed to Madison City Schools.
Parties in the lawsuit in early September 2017 reached an agreement on a settlement proposal. School boards for Madison City, Limestone County, Athens,  Huntsville and Madison County signed off. Here is a statement Schools Superintendent Robby Parker issued on the settlement proposal.

The measure now needs State Department of Education approval before attorneys for the school boards will file a motion with the court to dismiss.

Superintendent Parker and Madison City Board of Education President Ranae Bartlett held a news conference to discuss the proposed agreement and what it means for Madison City Schools.
